Quite a few months ago someone join the photo chat and mentioned about a photo group

I was unable to attend their expeditions because Bob was recuperating from his knee replacement surgery. Finally I met the fantasic group at  Castle In the Clouds

Color Isolation on Black and White Images

Nancy requested information  how to create color isolation on black and white images.  I have a complicated directions using PhotoShop CS3, you are unable to my directions on other programs like Adobe Elements and Paint Shop Pro.

I asked two of my very talented friends Reb
and Sharon from Canada, their directions and found you can apply to all the programs listed above, following the below steps.  And it is easy!!!

Here we go:

*Open a picture

*Create a new layer

*Convert your new layer to black and white.  Click OK.

*Using the your easer tool (you can size your eraser), erase the black and white, exposing color in the picture you wish to expose.

*Flatten or Merge you newly created image

*Save your image to jpeg format.

Create your color isolation, return to my entry and link your creation :). I will enjoy seeing your image.

Green Door

Old Green Door, RT. 113, Tamworth, NH.  If you have a moment check my other  Old Barns,Structures and Equipment

Spring time is a busy time of year.  I am keeping busy during the week (yard work, the house) allowing us time to explore on the weekends.  After a rough winter it is so nice to get outdoors, enjoy the fresh air and taking pictures.

The picture I am featuring, the shed I have taken in the winter and now in the spring.  I am not sure it will live through another winter for that reason I  am taking images during all the seasons.

Finally SUN, Sunday at dusk

LESSON LEARNED:  No matter what kind of weather, do not leave home without camera.

Shooting over the weekend was impossible it rained.  I ventured out not taking my camera, OPPS I came across a beautiful shot, clouds, mist, mountains and the lake.

The sun finally appeared near dusk.  I look out of the window and decided to look for a spot to take magic hour/sunset images. The sunset did not last as long as I hoped, a ridges of clouds hide the beautiful end of the sunset.

I found an OLD white birch, with the excellent lighting might work.

Round and About NH: Salisbury, NH Spring Garden

Starting out early, for our back roads photo shoot and tour, we were driving throught Salisbury.  "Bob, turn around" a comment he hears way too often <grinning>, I notice a beautiful spring garden.

The owners happen to be outside, I asked would they mind if I photographed their garden and would they allow me to post online and sell prints. They could not be any nicer, I want to go back with their garden is in full bloom. The vine arbor was made with bittersweet vine.

I am printing the photos and dropping off to the owners.

Artistic Flowers

I enjoy gardening, hiking and taking pictures of my flowers and wildflowers.

One of my favorites, are seeing beautiful, colorful flowers with a classy, black backgrounds, matted and framed. Soooooooooooooo guess what I am doing this year, taking flowers with a black back ground.  I have nothing blooming and wildflowers have not popped up.  I practiced with a house plant and floral bouquet my grandchildren sent for my birthday.

Sunset And Reflection

Magic Hour Lighting (Thanks Greg).

Reflection and sunset

After dinner I wanted to try to capture a scene I had spotted last week, sunset on the river. The scene was not a front view of the sunset but turned around and found beautiful lighting. Because of the mountains the lighting is very short lived.

Information I found when researching sunset photography.

Turn around!

Many times we get so caught up in photographing the sunset itself that we forget about the beautiful light that is being produced by this modified light source. Turn around and take notice of the golden light a sunset provides.

I returned home put on my boots and went out on our golf course for sunset images. The grounds have huge puddles from snow melt offs, introducing a great opportunity to include reflections with my sunset images.

I found the above image during last years vacation. High tension tower and wires on the road we took to the Northern Rim, Arizona.

I really love this shot, something artistic about it...my husband thought I was nuts when I asked him to pull over so I could take this picture.

YES, Success, My Dream Shot of A Tom Turkey

I woke later than usual, went into the kitchen to make a cup of tea, opened the blinds and saw Tom turkey, full tail feathers opened, strutting their stuff.

I ran for my camera, naturally the right lens was in place. Grab a pair of shoes and jacket over my pajamas, went out on the deck and starting shooting. I have been talking with a few people about using my extender 2 x on my 70-200 f/2.8L. One of the comments made, it works best on sunny day, not an overcast day. It sunny!!!!

Something about me taking images in my wearing pajamas, I usually end up with a winning shot :).

I promise not more turkey images, only if the babies show up!!!

The End

Almost Dream Turkey Images

Last week we were pulling out the garage, Bob notice my flock was feeding.  I had my camera ready, requested he stop and let me see if I can take a few shots.  Frankly we both thought they would run away. SHOCKED the turkeys let me get about 15 feet away from them to take pictures.  While the images I am posting are not my perfect dream shots, I am still very excited to have taken a few with tom's tail feathers fanned opened, strutting...it is mating season. I am still determined to take my perfect image but my chances are now less, they no longer need to be fed (on the last bag of fed), there is more opened ground.

I really enjoyed watching "my flock" over the winter and I learned a lot about wild turkeys....I even became attached to them.  The end of April  the hens will leave the flock, nest and the poults (young) will hatch.  It will take about two weeks, when their wings develop, to fly and roost in the trees.  In three weeks the hens and poults (8-15) will rejoin the flock.

Happy Birthday Rob, Rare Goose Photos :)

Happy birthday Rob (our son) and happy April Fool's Day :).

Sunday we visited a few more sugars houses.  Bob spotted  flock of goose, resting on someone's front lawn and driveway....naturally we had to stop to take pictures....could it be a rare bird siting?

Returning home, working on the images I sent to my bird watching friends to help in identifying.  At first Donna thought they might be rare goose visiting this area.  Further investigation, she realized they could be domesticated goose.

I wrote to our state, Jane from NHFG, forwarded my email to someone who could identify my goose.  The mystery was solved "Farm Yard Goose" French Toulouse. Sigh, wildlife another unsuccessful wildlife story :(. LOL.
