More Golden Finch, Blue Jay and Dark Eyed Junco

Today again my feeders were full of hungry birds during a small snow storm.
I have a great view point, full glassed exterior door on my three season porch allowing me to shoot from the indoors. (Not too much else to shoot, it has been so darn cold.)

Golden Finch, Winter Color

The birds are back feeding after the snow. I had to purchase another finch feeder there were so many birds. I totally enjoy watching, usually need help to identify. I am still trying to learn how to take decent shots of the birds. Out 10 shots this was the only decent one.

Christmas Kindness True Story

I ordered a gift for my niece Nichol's son Doug from Toy R' Us. Somehow the town was wrong....it seems Toy R' Us, changed the town..I did not notice on the order.

Yesterday morning I received a photo call from a man, asking me I had shipped a toy to Douglas. I said yes. Well it was delivered to his restaurant. One of his employees signed for it not realizing the mistake. The man tried contacting UPS, no success, saw my address and phone number and decided to call me.

The kind stranger was willing to deliver to her house...I decided the man really went out of his way, instead called Nichol at work and she knows where his restaurant is located and is picking up the gift.

My gift to Dougie meant a lot more, experiencing the kindness, honesty from a stranger. Thank you to the owner of Gunnar's Landing Restaurant, in Belvidere, NJ

Red Wagon Wheel

I found a red wagon wheel displayed in someone's yard. The red against the ice and snow really showed up nicely.

I had a little help with photo's cropping showcasing the RED wagon wheel.

Old Gaza Barn, Winter Shot

I have found I might take the same road, Gaza/Sanbornton, NH and never realize there is a photo opportunity. The lighting, season, time of day will bring a site to my attentions, like the barn image.

I have also found old structures might NOT be standing the next time I ride past!!!

New Hampshire's December, 08 Ice Storm

Last Thursday night New Hampshire had one of the worse ice storms in history. Over 400,000 homes/business lost power...as of today still 130,000 homes, still are not without power.
We were very lucky, we only lost our power for almost two days, lost food and a messy yard of huge tree limbs and branches. I am posting a few images, showing ice storms can also be scenic.

Winter's First Snow

I have been busy setting up a new computer, my old the hard drive was ready to give up after the good years. Any one else have Vista? I have a hard time adjusting to something new but I really like Vista. I decided to play a little with two of last year's winter photos. Do you like Black or Color?

HDR Enhancement
Original
I happened to return to a folder and found an old picture of sunset on Mojalaki Golf Course...played with the image and this is what I came up with. As I learn new techniques, returning to older pictures is fun see how I might improve or just play with.

Stone Arch Bridge Over Contoocook River, Stoddard, NH

I photograph Stone Arch Bridge, located in Stoddard, NH, whenever I am in the area. Twin arched bridge was build in the first half Nineteenth Century, without mortar.
A few years ago, a portion of the bridge was washed out but thankfully restored.
