America Flag At A Camp Site at Sunset

Before Editing

I set out to find new spots to take sunset photos, actually following the setting sun. I found an area on Collins Brook Rd, Meredith, discovered lighting on a American Flag hung on a garage in a camp site caught my eye and I knew I had to work quickly before I lost the light. 

I shot a few photos and returned home to edit. What I found was the flag mounted on an garage and behind the flag steps of camp (bungalow).  I cropped played and sent to my friend Charlie Loy for his suggestions and review.
*He did not like the square crop but if I do keep it.
*The building needed to be lighten (he did not realize I was trying to camouflage the garage.

I started again re-editing. 

*I took Charlie's advice about square photo. Change  vertical instead, encompassing the sun.
*Lighten the building but cropped leaving a panel of the garage door looking like a door of camp house. Lighten the building slightly for definition.
*Cloned out the steps behind the flag.

I was challenge again by Charlie and his comments helping me to perfect an image and raising my work standards, I am very proud of the outcome.  I need to follow his advice more often :)

Last week we were visiting our friends who live near Cape May, NJ. Our visit is always a pleasure seeing them, checking their beautiful gardens and birds.

One day this week I lost my Internet connection and decided to play with a program called Corel Paint Essentials, not the full program.  A test program when I ordered Paint Shop Pro.  I really like it and plan to order the full program. It was easy to use and I liked the finished product for my first attempts, I know I can improve.

Riding a back road in Tuftonboro, NH,  I found a white pine's grove.  What so unusual, hardwoods usually are mixed in with the pines but this area only white pines. My mistake I should have put on my wide-angle.

I have grown to respect and enjoy all types of photography, scenic, stills, street people, sports and etc.  The reason why I decided to share my friend Charlie Loy Polo photography with you.  You will see why, his work is outstanding.

When I first "met" Charles Loy, professional photographer with over 25 years of experience, was during AOL's photo critique's chat, run by Erwin Seigal, AOL Chat Host at the time.
 
Charlie's first featured photo I was introduced to during the critique chat, was a portrait titled "Handsome Thoroughbread."  This shot was one of the best photos I had ever seen. I started following his Polo- Horses and Riders photos he photographs for The Fairfield Polo Club.

I realized photographing polo was not an easy job, capturing the movement of the game. His photos are sharp, always well exposed, lining up the riders and horses in a frame is always perfect.

I am not familiar with Polo, after checking his photos and reading his descriptions under his photos, become a learning tool about the sport and polo terms.

How could you not admire the beauty of the game and horses after viewing his work.

Wonderful Anniversary Dinner (Personal Entry)

Bob and I are celebrating another anniversary.  I married my high school sweetheart and we grew up in the same town.  My Dad was Bob's baseball coach, and Bob was our newspaper boy. We have known each other for MANY years and married for 48 years.

I wanted to share a place we had a dinner tonight with my New Hampshire readers and hopefully entice my out of town readers who enjoy viewing my New Hampshire photos, to visit our beautiful state.

 Thank you to owner Allen and his chef who went out their way to provide our request to have Yorkshire Pudding with our Prime Rib Steak dinner tonight. Five Star Rating*****

Bonus Find When Shooting Old Sugar Houses, Blue Chair

Photographing another old sugar house found on Winter Street, Bristol, New Hampshire, I looked inside and found an old blue chair sitting near the entryway.  I had the feeling someone had been waiting at the front door!!!!

I played with color isolation with this image.

Backroads On Raining Day Find: Two Old Sugar Houses, Barn and A Small Rock Cliff With Rain Streaming Down

I was not too happy yesterday produced rain.  Bob insisted we go for a ride and I was glad he did :).

We found two old sugarhouses, a barn and a roadside cliff with water steaming down with moss and other greenery.

I was looking for an area to photograph sunset and remembered Lily Pond, Gilford, NH, near the Laconia Airport.

A bonus to my shoot, was a dad and son fishing.  I also included a magic hour shot of the area.

A few months ago I was approached to see if I might be interested in helping photograph  Climb to the Clouds | The 2011 Climb To the Clouds Hillclimb.  I had never photographed car races before but thought it would be a wonderful and learning experience.

My job was to photograph the base activities, crowd and start of the races.

I was not sure I could make the festival this year. The only day I was able to go, it was raining and overcast.  I managed to take shots in between the rain allowing more dramatic photos in my opinion.

Laconia, NH 88th Bike Week 2011

Today is the last day of Laconia's Bike Week. Our residents welcome the bikers, their arrivals are great for our tourist industry plus the event is fun to attend and watch. You will see people lined up on the streets watching the bikers and I have to admit I was one of those people taking photos.

One our favorite spots to photograph is Virginia's Malbry Mill, located on Blue Ridge Parkway.

I am told the most famous mill to be photograph, you can see why.

Bob and I went south, taking a road trip vacation a few weeks ago, visiting our family and friends in Asheville, North Carolina.  

My favorite route has always been Blue Ridge Parkway.  We hit pea soup  fog but I manage to capture of few decent shots.

Acadia National Park, Cadillac Mountain Sunrise

We spent a weekend with one of my photogroups, taking photos of Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor.  A beautiful area and good food (fresh lobster) I would suggest vacationing.
