A couple of nights ago, the night of the Academy Awards, I was sitting down to watch the anticipate show. Flash, dark the power went out!!!! We were having extremely heavy snow storm that took down the power lines. Our last power outage we were without power for three days, our neighboring towns were without for days and even weeks. We lit the candles and settle in waiting for our power to return when I had an idea. "This was GREAT time to practice with my settings and flash outside." My husband thought I was nuts and tried talking me out of going outside but I was determined!!!!
I am so glad I did not listen to him, decided to go outdoors and tried taking a few images. You decide how did I do capturing the snow, beautiful snow scenery?

Snow images at night are very appealing, I think. Hope the power came back soon
When the power goes out, it becomes so quiet. Then you went outside where it is snowing and was greeted by more quiet. Your photos show that serene, quiet quality of winter.

It was only 100 years ago that rural people had no electricity. People in the city had it first. Horses got shocked from electrical lines running under the streets. We take electricity for granted ever since I was born. I use flashlights I have ready to read with when my power is out very infrequently. This year was bad just 50 miles south of me in S. IL. Ice as you know caused a record amount of destruction. Fortunately I have a woodburner to keep warm with. The snow photos are beautiful. The night time snow falling into the yard on the trees looks so calm and peaceful. mark
