Fire Ruins Of An Old Home

Fireplace and Old Shed

Gateway to the Past

Last Saturday we took a ride looking for photo opportunities and my never ending quest for wildlife :). Again no wildlife!!!! I did find an old home's ruins cause by a fire that caught my eye.

My grandfather had a gate entrance, similar to this, leading into his front yard from the front drive.  I always liked this style of entrance, more so than the use of arbor style entrances or simple gate with no overhead.  And your pictured gate may have a chain with a weight, rather than a spring of some sort, for its closing.  Someone should preserve the gate with side-posts, instead of leaving it to fade into the past.

Love shots like those...especially the gateway.  I'd like to see it a little bigger...maybe with a phrase on it?   It speaks volumes alone too...

I love the gateway one, I'd like to see it in color.
Excellent shot!

Isn't it something how something like that can be beautiful?

Nicely seen, Betty. I especially like the gate. Did you try playing with it in sepia, or fading the color to look like an old-time color photo? I'd love to see those versions.

Now that is a rustic scene.  There are several locations around here where all that is left is the chimney...those bricks are quite stout!  The gate is a very nice and simple composition that does a great job in establishing a mood.  Both are very good.

The gate is an example of excellent contrast of a B/W!    I viewed your round about NH in Flickr and enjoyed them greatly!     mark
