We spent a weekend with one of my photogroups, taking photos of Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor.  A beautiful area and good food (fresh lobster) I would suggest vacationing. 

Finally A Decent Ringneck Duck Shot

I was out and about yesterday, Bob noticed ducks on Lake Waukewan in Center Harbor.  I had my Canon 100-400 and 1.4 extender and find out my set up was really not going to capture the ducks. 

The sun was starting to come out after night of heavy rain, I decided to give it a try one more try.  Three were still on the lake but again too far to photograph.  We turned around and found a pair on the other side of the road  I was finding again too far for a decent shot.  Starting to head home we looked one more time towards the lake and saw that the three original ducks were coming towards the shore line to rest after eating.  My opt!!!!

We finally had a beautiful weekend and Sunday was too nice to stay home cleaning the yard around our snow piles :).

I left my photo equipment home not realizing we were going to stay out after running a few errands.  I had purchased a Canon G11 to keep me all times and it paid off.  I saw a few really nice photo opts giving me an opportunity to explore and play with my point and shoot.  My camera did OK!!!

Early Morning Photography

I woke up very early yesterday and look outside, I saw a pretty site, snow covered trees, a light from a street lamp. I grabbed my camera, tripod and started shooting.


The white balance might be off but what I saw and what the camera captured is what caught my eye.

I took a walk in our yard with my camera looking for photo opportunities. I found a budding Japanese Red Maple, Crap Apple and pink pussy willow.

I had never heard of a bog was until we move to New Hampshire 17 years ago. I am sharing my scenic images but there is a lot more information learning about the blogs.

"Bogs receive very little surface water flow and are among the most acidic peatlands. They are dominated by shrubs such as leatherleaf and bog laurel."

You will locate at the bog wetlands, wildlife habitats, ancient plants species, birds, mammals and insects. For more detail information check out Peatland Habitats

Spring Is Starting to Show

We took a ride last weekend finding on Route 302 in Bartlett, NH, a pond with the white birch budding out and red twigs surrounding the pond that caught my eye. Pretty site.

I found out an interesting fact while shooting New Hampshire's Maple Sugaring, once the sugar naples start budding out. the flow the sap stops. I looked up and took this image of the Sugar maple budding out. Spring????

All month Sugar Maple sap is running for our Maple Sugaring industry. We have been visiting different New Hampshire sugar houses.

Last weekend, we located Ben's Sugar House, 83 Wester Hwy, Temple NH. Arriving at Ben Fisk's sugar house, his grandmother was out side taking a break, she introduced herself, telling us how proud she of her grandson Ben.

Ben is a 21 year old young man who started up his maple sugaring business. Joe, one of his employee's/friend gave us a very informative tour. We were very impressed with how well his maple sugaring business is run. Ultimate and creative businessman!! He taps 8,000 sugar maples trees.

They not only make maple syrup, maple candy, maple cream, Maple Cotton Candy and sell many other products. He has a blog, Ben's Sugar Shack Blog offering update information about sugaring plus recipes. You can also find him on Facebook

Brookline Lighthouse located on Potanipo Pond, Brookline, New Hampshire, is on the list of New Hampshire Lighthouses. The location I find unusual, built over the a small dam and the lighthouse as you can see is small.

Cool nights, warm days indicates the start of maple sugaring season. The lack snow this year I found helps the flow of the maple sugar trees allowing the sun warm the roots of the trees.

Collecting the sap, boiling watching the procedure is so much fun. One my favorite places to visit, Heritage Farm, in Sanbornton, NH. You are able to watch the making the maple syrup. Enjoy a delicious home style breakfast, served with special touches, farm fresh eggs, home grown home fries and local bacon, topped off with Heritage Farm's fresh maple syrup.

Sure Sign of Spring. A Flock of Robin's Feeding On Crab Apples

Early afternoon I noticed a flock of birds were feeding in my backyard, they were too far for me to identify. About 3 PM I could hear loud birds outside in the front our home. My robins returned, their second year feeding off the crab apple tree, early spring.
